GETTING TO THE CAMP

IMPORTANT NOTICE -
ARRIVING IN TIME & IN DAYLIGHT - BEFORE 4pm

The Islander's boatman does not go out after dark.

The drive from Nairobi takes approx 4-5 hours. It is important to reach The Africa Inland Church parking before 4pm to avoid the common heavy afternoon squalls on the lake when the waves can be high.

You will be given the name and mobile number of the boatman and you are requested to call him to advise him on your progress and arrival time to The African Inland Church parking area.  A good time to call is at Marigat which is twenty minutes away from Baringo.

Please be at the African Inland Church Parking & Boat Launch by 4PM AT THE LATEST

COMPLIMENTARY RETURN
BOAT TRIPS TO THE ISLAND


For guests staying two or more nights there is ONE complimentary boat service to Teddy Bear Island and the return leg to Africa Inland Church parking.
Max 7 people plus baggage.
 
Any additional boat trip will cost 1500/ each way (round trip 3000/), payable directly to the boatman.


 

DRIVING FROM NAIROBI

 SECURE PARKING & BOAT LAUNCH

From Nairobi drive to Nakuru on the Nairobi-Nakuru Rd.
 
In Nakuru town take a right at the second roundabout,
go over the rail tracks and at T-Junction turn left.  
 
Stay on this road all the way North to the turning on the right with signs for
Baringo town/Campi Ya Samaki.  At Marigat you are 20 minutes away.
 
At the sign turn RIGHT & head into Baringo Town/Campi Ya Samaki.
At the end, at the T-Junction turn LEFT for Kambi Samaki.
Go over a small ditch. You will see a Safaricom duka to the left and Africa Inland Church to the right.  
 
Esta has the keys to the blue Africa Inland Church gates.  You will find Esta at the Safaricom duka.
