GETTING TO THE CAMP

Please note that it is very important to arrive in time, in daylight to catch your boat by 4 pm  & avoid the strong afternoon winds on the lake.  
The Islander's boatman does not go out after dark.

if you are staying two nights or more, Your stay includes one COMPLIMENTARY RETURN BOAT TRIP TO REACH THE ISLAND & THEN back to the main land.

For guests staying two or more nights there is ONE complimentary boat service to Teddy Bear Island and the return leg to the secure parking on the main land. This is where you should leave your car and you will pay a parking fee direct to askari.
Parking is 500ksh per day, per car.

The canoe can take a max of 7 people plus baggage per boat trip. 
If you are staying just one night you will need to pay the boatman directly.
The boat trip will cost 1500/ each way (round trip 3000/).

Secure parking, turn right at the sign & gate after the Snake Park.

GETTING YOUR BOAT

The drive from Nairobi takes approx 4-5 hours. It is important to reach the parking before 4pm to avoid the common heavy afternoon squalls on the lake when the waves can be high.

You will be given the name and mobile number of the boatman and you are requested to call him to advise him on your progress and arrival time to the parking area.  A good time to call is at Marigat which is twenty minutes away from Baringo.

DRIVING FROM NAIROBI

From Nairobi drive to Nakuru on the Nairobi-Nakuru Rd.
 
In Nakuru town take a right at the second roundabout,
go over the rail tracks and at T-Junction turn left.  
 
Stay on this road all the way North to the turning on the right with signs for
Baringo town/Campi Ya Samaki.  At Marigat you are 20 minutes away.
 
At the sign turn RIGHT & head towards Baringo Town/Campi Ya Samaki.
Just after the Snake Park you will see a gate and fence line on the right with the sign for Samatian Island Parking
Turn right through the gate for secure parking & boat launch.
Parking is 500ksh per day per car.
